God originally created man perfect, placed him in a garden and told Adam, if he obeyed, he would live forever. (Gen. 2:16-17) However, Adam disobeyed God’s commandment and reaped the penalty of death. (Gen. 3:17-19) Since that time, conditions have continued to deteriorate. Today, selfishness and unrighteousness dominate the world.
God has a plan to recover mankind from this awful condition based on the sacrifice of Jesus. God “hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man [Jesus] whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” — Acts 17:31
