Today, darkness covers the earth and “gross darkness the people.” (Isa. 60:2) This darkness comes from Satan who as “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” — 2 Cor. 4:4

When Jesus came at his first advent, the light of his teachings and character revealed God’s plan of salvation for all. But only a few at that time and since then have truly appreciated this light. 

In Christ’s soon-to-be-established kingdom, this will change. Satan will be bound for 1,000 years so he can deceive the nations no more. (Rev. 20:2-3) Then God “will turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.” (Zeph. 3:9) “And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD.” — Jer. 31:34
