"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses."- Hebrews 12:1

These witnesses were men and women who had faith in God and were led by the Holy Spirit: Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Rahab, Moses, David, Daniel, and many more. They wanted to do God’s will, and are known as the Ancient Worthies. As imperfect as they were, God did use them in many ways for examples, and types or pictures, so we can understand his plan better. 2 Peter 1:21
