"I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." Colossians 2:2-3 NLT

Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples."- John 8:31
If we do things by fits and starts we shall not make much progress. Jesus knew this, and so he advised his disciples to continually think and live according to his teachings. By so doing, they prove they are truly his disciples, followers whose chief desire is to learn from him. Colossians 3:16

No man can serve two masters. (Matthew 6:24)
"YE cannot serve God and Mammon." Experience and observation corroborate this; and hence as a rule we find that people are either cold or hot in spiritual things....We are to "seek first (chiefly) the Kingdom of God." It is to be our chief concern and to receive from us all the time, attention, thought, energy, influence and means we have--the things needful for the present life being understood to be excepted; and our love and zeal will be manifested by the proportion of even these which we are willing to sacrifice in the interest of heavenly things.

Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the Word. Acts 8:4
DEAR brethren, he who was with and guided the Early Church is with us with equal power. He who guided in that harvest time is guiding now, and will continue to guide his work to the end. We may have experience with similar characters to that of Judas, Alexander the Coppersmith, Jannes and Jambres. But the Lord is able to make all these work together for good to us and through them all to fulfil his gracious promises. He may permit persecutions, imprisonments, or things corresponding on a different plane, but let us never doubt the presence and power of our Lord. The glorious results will more than compensate for the trials and difficulties. "Faith can firmly trust him come what may."
