"Jacob was left alone, and there wrestled a man [an angel] with him until the breaking of the day .... And he blessed him there. "- Genesis 32:24,29

We are not to suppose God did not want to give Jacob the blessing he desired. The thought is, rather, the blessing would be all the more valuable to him if it were withheld for a time so as to have a greater influence upon his heart. And soit is with our prayers; we should not lose interest in the things we request if they are in harmony with God’s will. Isaiah 30:2
