"I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."  Colossians 2:2-3 NLT

"The angel of the LORD appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt."- Matthew 2:13

When King Herod learned that a child had been born who was to become king of the Jews, he tried to destroy Jesus by ordering all children two years old and younger to be killed. God’s plan for Jesus to be the Savior of the world could not be hindered, and he was taken safely out of the wicked king’s reach. Matthew 2:14

And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God. (Revelation 20:4)

ALTHOUGH this beheading is figurative and not literal, it nevertheless has a deep significance....It signifies, not only death to self-will, but also to be cut off from all other heads, governments and law-givers, and to recognize no "head" but Jesus, whom God hath appointed to be the Head of the church, which is His body....It means, not only to be cut off from institutional heads and authorities, but also to cease to have heads and wills of our own, and to accept, instead, the headship, the will, of our Lord Jesus. It is the same thought that is drawn to our attention by the apostle in Romans 6:3, where he declares that we are baptized into the body of Christ, as members of that body, under the one Head, Christ, by being baptized into His death,--a full consecration of our wills, and ultimately a full laying down of our lives, faithfully unto death.

Brother shall deliver up the brother to death. Matthew 10:21

ALAS, that this should be so--that the love of God should at any time fail to constrain us so that we would not only turn from his love and fellowship, but that the sword should be used to smite down brethren! Get the picture impressed in our minds and sealed in our hearts of coming days with spiritual Israel, when brother shall be against brother, which the Lord will permit just prior to the establishment of his kingdom. Let us resolve that however others may fight, the weapons of our warfare shall not be carnal and that our battling shall not be against those who are the Lord's by covenant, but against the great Adversary. Carnal weapons are not merely guns and swords, but more injurious and death-dealing is the tongue when used to slander and wound. God forbid that our tongues, wherewith we praise God, should work injury to any man, but particularly to any of the household of faith.
