Today, there seems to be a renewed interest in spiritualism. People claim to communicate with the dead. Multiple popular TV shows are based on this concept.

The Bible speaks of God creating spiritual beings before He created man. Called angels, they sang for joy at man’s creation. (Job 38:7) However, Lucifer and a group of angels rebelled against and became enemies of God. Since that time, Satan and the fallen angels have created havoc for man. They intervened into man’s affairs and as a result, the first world became so evil, God destroyed it with a flood. — Gen. 6:2-7

God promises that He will bring this rebellion to an end. First, He will bind Satan for a thousand years during Christ’s kingdom so all mankind can be taught righteousness and not be deceived. (Rev. 20:2-3) Then, after Satan is loosed for a little season to test man’s obedience to God’s righteous laws, Satan and all his followers will be destroyed forever in the lake of fire, the second death. — Rev. 20:7-10
